About Us

Our Dental Team

Our nursing team plays a crucial role in our preventative strategy through offering oral hygiene instruction, advice and techniques. For many appointments they are the first point of treatment for patients as they carry out preparation such as disclosing before examination by the dentist. Where the patient is attending an emergency appointment, it is a member of our nursing team who will first speak to the patient about the nature of their problem.

Every member of our nursing team has a good understanding of the surgery as a whole, which is gained by rotating roles within the practice. Our staff undertake a wide range of duties including reception; ensuring patients are educated about oral health and working as chair side support to the dentist.

Ombersley Family Dental Practice is co-run by Andy’s husband Roy who manages the surgery, does the accounts, and uses his experience in software development and quality assurance to ensure the smooth running of the business’ systems. He organises patient direct debit schemes and provides additional support to the team on reception where needed. Roy ensures the smooth running of Ombersley and has been key in building our reputation for customer satisfaction beyond the dentist’s chair.

Our Dental Practice

We have recently benefitted from extensive modernisation to ensure the comfort and best function of our surgery, which includes a fully accessible W.C and a large customer car park. Our refit ensures that we can continue to provide the best in dental services, whenever you need a dentist in Ombersley near Worcester, Stourport on Severn or Droitwich.

Registered Dental Nurse

In 2018 I decided that I wanted a change of career and have been a dental nurse ever since: qualifying from Walsall College in 2019.

I was excited to be joining Andy at Ombersley, having heard so many good things about how the practice worked. I joined the team in 2023 and will begin studying for my qualification in Radiography in February 2024. After that I hope to take my Oral Health Educator qualification.

In my spare time I enjoy going on holiday and socialising with friends.

I recently bought my own home.

Registered Dental Nurse

I have been a dental nurse since 1999. I joined Andy in 2004, gained my Registration in 2005 and my radiography qualification in July 2009. I left the practice to set up my own child-minding business, but ultimately found the administration side too stressful after just a year. When I heard that there was an opportunity of returning to work with Andy again – I just jumped at the chance.

Registered Dental Nurse

After serving the Royal Navy for 4 years as a dental nurse, I left to have my first son. Which led me to working for Andy where I gained my National Certificate in dental nursing in 2009, since then I also qualified as a dental radiographer in January 2012. After working for Andy for 10 years I got married and moved to Scotland in 2017 so my family could be together as my husband is based there in the Royal Navy. In 2018 we had our 2nd child, so we decided to move back to be closer to my family. Which is when I had the amazing opportunity to work for Andy again, I was so happy to come back as I missed working with Andy so much. Its a great team and I love the preventative ethos we follow.

In 1996 I set up Ombersley Family Dental Practice. I married Roy in 1986 and have a stepson, Stuart, a son, Marc and daughter, Sam. I’m married to Lorna and have two daughters, Evie and Gaby. We’re keen members of the National Trust, which also allows me to pursue my photography hobby. My photos have been used by the Cotswolds’ tourist board and Cheltenham Council.

Roy Wright

Roy Wright

Business Consultant

After a career developing computer systems, I ran my own consultancy for a number of years providing quality assurance management for several computer software companies & IT departments of large organisations. However, it became obvious that Andy needed help to handle the growing administrative & management effort in running the Practice. It was pleasing to see how disciplines used in satisfying business needs could be transferred into a dental practice environment.

I played competitive squash for many years until shoulder operations ended that outlet, fortunately I am still able to continue historic single-seater car racing.

I started dental nursing in 1998 working at Ombersley Family Dental Practice. I qualified as a dental nurse in 2000. Since then I have qualified in dental radiography and in 2010 gained my Oral Health Educators Qualification. I had a break from dental nursing in 2010 to have a baby so most of my spare time is spent looking after my daughter and my husband. I am still working at the practice but on a part-time basis.

Registered Dental Nurse

I worked for Andy between 2001 and 2007, but intended to emigrate to New Zealand, which sadly did not work out so I continued working at other local practices. When I heard that there was a vacancy with Andy I jumped at the chance to apply and was lucky enough to be taken on again. I gained my dental nurse radiography qualification in October 2019. Now that our children are grown up, my husband, Nic, and I can spend more time together. We enjoy holidays & walking the dog.

Registered Dental Nurse

Sue and I worked together at the same practice and when I saw the change in her upon coming to work for Andy I was persuaded to apply for a job, although I had been considering giving up dental nursing altogether. It is such a different environment; we all get on as a team and the patients are so pleasant. I gained my radiography qualification in May 2018. In my spare time I enjoy holidays, working out at the gym and going to concerts together.
